Net Migration is Changing your Area - When do we say "Enough is Enough"? Numbers Don't Lie

Net migration is the main cause of population growth in England and Wales. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) released figures showing that many local authorities, particularly large cities like Birmingham, Newham, and Manchester, are growing primarily because of immigration. For example, without net migration, Birmingham's population would have decreased, but instead, it grew by over 13,000 people.

Key Takeaways from the ONS Data

  • Immigration as a Growth Driver: Immigration is the primary factor behind recent population increases in England and Wales.

  • Localized Impact: Population growth from migration is not evenly distributed. Cities and urban areas are experiencing significant increases, while some areas of the country would have shrunk without immigration.

  • Uneven Distribution: British cities are becoming more diverse due to immigration, creating a demographic difference between them and the surrounding, often predominantly white, countryside.

  • Long-Term Trend: Since 2011, cumulative net migration has brought over 3.5 million people to England, with more than 1 million of them settling in London.

Due to large-scale international migration, England and Wales are undergoing significant demographic changes. The country is splitting into two distinct parts: areas that are growing from internal factors like births and people moving within the country, and areas that are growing because of immigration. This has created two different types of communities in Britain, both shaped by a single cause—net international migration.

Over the past year, some cities in England have experienced massive population growth, fuelled almost entirely by immigration. For example, Leeds grew by 11,000 people, Birmingham by over 13,000, and Coventry by nearly 10,000. In Coventry's case, this growth is a direct result of net migration, which accounted for almost 15,500 new residents.

Although these numbers are only estimates and the 2024 data for Northern Ireland and Scotland isn't available yet, they still show us how the populations of England and Wales are changing.

The increasing population density in England and Wales is a major concern. The concentration of people in already crowded cities such as Birmingham and Leeds, which also have high levels of poverty, shows how population growth—driven by immigration—is putting a greater strain on local services.

When looking at which areas are growing most because of immigration, Birmingham is still a top destination. However, cities like Manchester, Bristol, Coventry, and Leicester are experiencing even faster growth in terms of percentage because their initial populations were smaller. This uneven distribution of immigration is creating a greater demographic contrast between British cities and the surrounding, predominantly white, countryside. This trend is expected to continue as immigration remains high.

This isn't a new issue; migration has been uncontrolled since the mid-1990s. However, since 2011, the total number of migrants arriving in England and Wales has caused a complete and transformative change in the regions.

Net Migration Has Spiralled Out of Control

Migration has increased dramatically. Between 2011 and 2024, over 3.5 million people migrated to England, with more than a million of them settling in London. This means that over the last 15 years, more than 11% of London's population growth has come from net migration. The author argues that no region has been left unchanged due to the government's failure to control its borders.

The Consequences of Uncontrolled Immigration

Unchecked immigration has major impacts on a country's culture, safety, and demographics. They conclude by stating that it's time for the government to impose a firm cap on the number of migrants; otherwise, local communities will continue to change dramatically. In essence we possibly could be stifling economic growth for decades to come making it much harder for our children and grand children to make their mark and carve their way to a decent standard of living.

Additionally, the UK has spent over 1000 years building its civil society and machinations that make for a liberalised, safe, productive society, but the endless import of migrants from non=progressive religious cultures such as those from the Central Asia, Middle East, East Africa, we are in essence stunting the UK's progression not least exposing women and girls to antiquated, disgraceful beliefs and norms of males from such regions of the planet.
